With a focus on communication, the SEI research effort at Cornell focuses on how the structure of NNIN facilitates intellectual exchange, openness and sharing of information among network users. We are also interested in the extent to which NNIN users have encountered real or potential conflicts of interest in relation to funding arrangements and how funding arrangements influence information exchange among users. Finally, we are interested in how procedures used for communicating about nanotechnology influence trust among scientists and members of the public and public attitudes toward new/emerging technologies like NSE.
